OUR PAST
IS OUR GUIDE
TO THE FUTURE
It was 1951 when Carlo Favella founded SAER Elettropompe S.p.A. in Guastalla, near Reggio Emilia in northern Italy. Back then, as still today, the company manufactured its entire range of hydraulic pumps and electric motors. We are proud to contribute to the growth of Italian industry, and to supply products which represent the best of Italian manufacturing quality around the world.
The founder, who worked in a well-known Reggio Emilia company in the 1950s, used his passion for engineering coupled with his business acumen to build up a company producing high-quality pumps for domestic and agricultural use.
Thanks to our past, forged through passion, sacrifice and hard work, today we can build the future we have long imagined. Future generations and the environment are a daily commitment and responsibility for SAER.
CARLO FAVELLA
From a small three-person shop, initially focused on the construction of pumps for the agricultural sector, SAER has now become a successful global company employing over 200 people.

THE HISTORY OF SAER
KEY MOMENTS
FOUNDATION OF SAER
1951
SAER ELETTROPOMPE S.p.A. was founded in Guastalla, Reggio Emilia, Italy in 1951 by Carlo Favella, and the company still produces all its products there
Favella, who was responsible for grinding work in a well-known Reggio Emilia company in the 1950s, used his passion for engineering coupled with his business acumen to build up a company producing high-quality pumps for domestic and agricultural use. The green colour characteristic of SAER pumps was chosen as a reference to the agricultural sector, which was undergoing strong growth in the post-war period in the Emilia region where SAER Elettropompe is based.
In the 1970s, SAER began exporting to the North African and Middle Eastern markets, where it is still one of the leaders in the sector
Realising the strong potential of foreign markets, SAER began to approach the export market in the 1970s, initially concentrating on the North Africa and Middle East markets, where it is still one of the leaders in the sector. SAER began to expand its presence internationally by participating in sector trade fairs, organising seminars and training sessions which helped spread its products and increase the importance of the brand which would become synonymous with Italian-made quality around the world.

By the 1980s SAER was a brand present on the global stage, with operations in South America, Asia and Oceania as well
By the 1980s, SAER Elettropompe was already a brand present on the global stage, not just in Europe, the Middle East and Africa, but also in South America, Asia and Oceania, with a wide range of electric motors and pumps both for surface applications (electric pumps for residential use, pressurisation groups, monobloc and end-suction electric pumps), and for wet applications (submersible pumps and motors).
In the 1990s, the markets were flooded with low-cost or rebranded products. SAER began a process of transformation, investing increasing amounts in process modernisation and in ensuring the highest quality of its products

PRODUCT RANGE INNOVATION
EXPANSION INTO OTHER SECTORS
2000s
Around the turn of the millennium, new models were developed and the historic product range was modernised. SAER's new range of pumps and electric pumps featured flexibility, efficiency, innovation and versatility
Thus, around the turn of the millennium, SAER brought out its own range of high-pressure pumps and split-casing pumps. The Italian company's technical department, leveraging integrated simulation systems and cutting-edge software, worked to keep its product range constantly updated so that it always offered the highest performance on the market.
SAER's product range dedicated to waste water took shape
The focus was on the integrated development of ranges of hydraulic pumps, both surface and submersible, for waste water pumping. SAER aims to be a single point of contact for its customers. Our investments are targeted at extending the versatility of our existing product ranges in order to make headway in expanding markets such as mining and desalination.

SAER's past and history are our identity. Our desire to remain in Italy is both an ethical and value-based choice
SAER's decision to remain in Italy in order to guarantee competitive delivery times and the highest standards of quality has made what could seem like an ethical choice a competitive advantage. Despite our complete and complex production cycle, flexibility is one of the company's distinctive traits, allowing us to even satisfy requests for tailor-made solutions. Development of, and for, the local area is one of SAER's key aspects.

Maybe not everyone knows that SAER would never have existed if it weren't for this fire extinguisher. During the Second World War, the company's founder Carlo Favella was saved by this fire extinguisher, which blocked a bullet which had been shot at him. Carlo brought the object that had saved his life back with him from the war.
